While the word “cancer” often brings fear and uncertainty, a new podcast is changing that narrative. The Good News About Cancer, hosted by oncologists Dr. Charles Ryan of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dr. Alicia Morgans of Dana Farber Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School, showcases the remarkable progress being made in cancer treatment and prevention. In each 30-minute episode, they engage leading doctors, researchers, and advocates to highlight life-saving advancements and chart the path forward in cancer care.
Dr. Ryan and Dr. Morgans, both world-renowned experts in genitourinary oncology, guide listeners through the latest innovations with clarity, insight, and optimism. “A lot of progress is being made that doesn't get the attention it deserves,” said Dr. Ryan. “We know that there are a million wins everyday against cancer, and we want to highlight them and the people who make this happen,” added Dr. Morgans.
The Good News About Cancer launched with an inaugural episode featuring Karen Knudsen, outgoing CEO of the American Cancer Society. In the conversation, she reflects on some of the biggest wins in cancer prevention and treatment, offering valuable insights into how far the field has come—and what’s next. In episode two, Chuck and Alicia sit down with Dr. William Pao to hear the story of how he contributed to the discovery of a gene mutation in lung cancer—a discovery that opened up new avenues for treatments and changed thousands of lives. New episodes will be released on Tuesdays.
